HIV+AIDS Education

Free TAB Curriculum — Resource for Students + Teachers  

Based on years of collaboration with beneficiary organizations, TAB remains committed to the goal of educating students throughout the western slope of Colorado and beyond with accurate information, so they can make healthy, wise decisions today and in the future.

Due to a variety of factors, many schools today are unable, or unwilling, to devote much time to HIV and AIDS education. This curriculum, which is aligned with National and/or Common Core Standards, allows teachers to easily incorporate short, relevant lessons that provide valuable information about this important subject in the absence of a school-wide educational initiative. 

The curriculum includes a variety of topics, including information on the basic science of HIV and AIDS, the global impact of the disease, populations affected by the epidemic, and information about stigma and how to combat it.

AIDS Education Day

GOAL: To educate students with accurate, up-to-date information so they can make healthy, informed decisions and become future advocates for HIV and AIDS awareness.

The Telluride Middle/High School AIDS Education Day has been in effect since 1991. Every year, TAB invites presenters and educators to a day of workshops and break out sessions. From young people who are HIV+, to physicians and nurses, to AIDS Service Organization staff members, our presenters provide insight into the work they are doing to fight sexually transmitted diseases worldwide. 

Students are presented with an "HIV and AIDS 101" overview program, where they participate in hands-on learning activities, such as science-based demonstrations on how quickly a virus can spread and infect others. Students are provided a safe space to discuss sexually transmitted diseases, questions about sex and gender, and reproductive concerns in a positive learning environment.
